Below are the answers to the common questions we are asked. If your question was not answered below, please do not hesitate to contact us.
What is a phone consultation?
The phone consultation is a 10 minute call where we discuss your concerns and why you want to attend therapy. We will confirm if our services can best serve you. Call the office to set up your first appointment or use our convenient online appointment request to schedule a consultation.
What can I expect on my first day of therapy?
The first day of therapy can feel overwhelming and uncertain for some people. No worries! We will ensure that your session is one that is open, nonjudgmental and all about building a good rapport while working one on one with a licensed provider. The goal of therapy is for you to have a safe environment to share your thoughts and make positive changes towards your wellness goals. Your therapist will assess your individual needs to determine the most appropriate form of treatment.
What’s the difference between talking to a therapist, my friend, or a family member?
Friends and family members can be reliable sources that provide valuable life advice and experience. However, a therapist is trained to help you approach and address circumstances or issues in your life from a nonjudgmental and unbiased way while also helping you to recognize patterns, develop new skills and gain different perspectives. A therapist will help to empower you so that you can be the best you possible, and feel fulfilled.
What about privacy?
Sessions are completely confidential so you do not have to worry about others knowing what we discuss. The information you share with your therapist is your health information and is protected under HIPPA (health insurance portability and accountability act). The session content and all relevant materials to the client’s treatment will be held confidential unless the client requests in writing to have all or portions of such content released to a specifically named person/persons. Limitations of such client held privilege of confidentiality exist and are in detail in the Informed Consent documents during the first session. Therefore, you can feel comfortable knowing that your therapist has your best interest at heart and maintaining confidentiality
is of the utmost importance.
What If I feel you are not a good fit for the services that I need?
The therapeutic process is one that takes time to develop and has its ebbs and flows. Some days can seem more challenging than others because you are discussing information that you might not have shared with anyone else. Positive Solutions Therapy will always serve as a support in making a decision that is best for the client. Therefore, if you feel that we are not a good fit then we will support your decision to terminate services and will give you a referral to another qualified provider.
